The Niece of Dr Martin Luther King Jr Continues to Support President Trump
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s niece, Dr. Alveda King, came to the defense of President Donald Trump over the weekend on "Fox and Friends," over comments made by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga).

Alveda, who is the director of anti-abortion group Civil Rights for the Unborn, said Trump is "compassionate" when it comes to anti-abortion issues. "The president is certainly fighting for civil rights today" by "leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the womb who have a right to live," King said.
"Trump himself is a brilliant man. I believe he's compassionate," she said. "If you go back and look at all of the executive orders, the things for women and science, for African American education… there are so many things that he's doing."

This comes after Lewis said that Trump is "uncaring" and "knows very, very little" about the Civil Rights movement. Lewis marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's fight for Civil Rights. "We have come a distance. We made progress, but there are forces in America trying to slow us down or take us back," he said on CNN's "The Axe Files" on Friday night.

King said she holds Lewis in "great esteem," but said that "everybody in America needs to do some homework and stop playing the race card." She added that Trump has "surrounded himself with African American leaders" and is "knowledgeable of much of the history of African Americans."

Trump famously feuded former anchor Kelly after she asked him a tough question at a Republican primary debate about derogatory statements he's made about women. Trump took it personally, judging by his response on Twitter and in interviews. He later famously said Kelly must have had "blood coming out of her wherever" regarding the question.
